Roj Women’s Association is recruiting an Older Women Peer Support
Coordinator, to work 21hrs a week Supporting Socially Isolated Kurdish and
Turkish Women in Hackney, Haringey, Islington and Enfield.
One Year Fix Contract
21 Hours a Week.
Annual Leave 25 days per rota

Older Women Peer Support worker to work with a group of Kurdish/Turkish
Women over the age of 55 in the borough’s that Roj Women’s Association
provides service in Islington, Hackney, Haringey and Enfield. The role is for one
year, part-time. The candidate is expected to offer case work support to 20
women over the age of 55, have regular meetings with the beneficiaries to
coordinate the support needed.
Have a good understanding of the issues concerning Kurdish and Turkish women
over a certain age and offer holistic case work support.
Carry out needs assessment and establish good link with the local services
supporting this demographic particularly links with health provisions in the
Encouraging older women participation to take part in physical activities, social
activities and community based activities to help them build better connection
with their local environment.
Post holder to offer advocacy support, and willingness to attend important
external meetings when representing the older women.
Post holder to have excellent communication skills, able to communicate with a
wide variety of beneficiaries from a diverse background and the ability to speak
Kurdish and Turkish.
The post holder is expected to have very good written and spoken English
language skills, able to effectively communicate when supporting the older
person in various external meetings.
Attend regular staff meetings and report back the progress of the service to the

1. Qualifications and special requirements
a) Bilingual ability to speak English, Kurdish, and Turkish due to the nature of the
b) Nationally recognized qualification in social care or similar.
c) Commitment to/evidence of continuous professional development.
